New Gas Leak at the Escambia County Jail

There was a gas leak at the kitchen of the main Escambia County Jail today. This time, unlike at Central Booking and Detention on April 30, 2014, the county appears to have taken appropriate action and turned off the natural gas, according to news reports. The county’s inaction and failure to turn off the gas at Central Booking and Detention will likely be the central focus of lawsuits and claims for wrongful death, personal injury, and civil rights violations related to the jail explosion and will be used to show the county was deliberately indifferent to the rights of inmates housed there.
