Thank you for visiting our website. My academic resume and qualifications can be found here, but I want to use this page to tell you a little about myself. I think it is important for lawyers to build professional, nurturing relationships with their clients. The best way to start building those relationships is to get to know one another.
I was born and raised in the Pensacola/Gulf Breeze area. With the exception of my law school years, I have lived in the Pensacola area my whole life. My dad was raised in Pensacola and his dad was too. My mom moved to Pensacola as a child. I have one sister, Sarah, who is five years younger than me.
My childhood was filled with lots of love and lots of animals. Today I consider myself a dog person, and I have three of them.
Growing up, both of my parents worked in the medical field, and I always thought I would be a doctor. At age 5, I decided I wanted to be a neonatologist (a doctor who works with sick or premature newborns). My Kindergarten teacher had to ask my mom what a neonatologist was!
My medical school plans changed in college when my experience helping an injured friend showed me I was not cut out for the job. My mom had always told me I could “argue with a brick wall,” so I decided to take a few legal studies courses and consider the legal route. I instantly became intrigued by the law. I loved the legal research and writing, the problem solving, and the idea of seeking justice for those who could not achieve it for themselves. After college, I was off to law school. I have been passionate about the law ever since!
Like many of my clients, I have experienced adversity and overcome hardships in life. Facing and overcoming challenges has given me a unique perspective that I believe helps me relate on a more personal level to my clients, who may be facing challenges of their own. I have a big heart for the underdog. I strive to be the voice for my clients and to help guide them through unfamiliar and sometimes intimidating legal processes.
When I’m not practicing law, I enjoy running, Tough Mudder and Spartan obstacle races, spending time outdoors, dining at Pensacola’s dog-friendly restaurants and visiting with my family. I also volunteer with the Friends of the Escambia County Animal Shelter and the Open Books Prison Book Project.
